Multiplayer and Singleplayer

I'm new here, basically registered to ask PC building related questions... just wondering what peoples' views are on single and multi player gaming.

There are a lot of gamers (on the internet) who think that the single player experience is always far more important than any multi player experience.

I usually have more fun for a much longer time with a multi player game than a single player game. To be honest, I haven't enjoyed a single player campaign mode in ages. I can enjoy them co-op, but I'm really looking forward to Halo3 (multiplayer) for my 360 and UT3 for PC far more than anything else.

I enjoy single player the most, though I value multiplayer for possibly vastly expanding the life of many video games.

You are probably talking about FPS's which usually the AI isnt that good and neither is the storyline and those make singleplayer suck. FPS's are practically made for multiplay. I love singleplayer games like RPG's and adventure games more so than multiplay fps's because it's an experience that draws you in and creates another world for you.

I prefer single player unless I'm gaming with people I know well.

Unfortunately, my friends have been frustratingly slow to adopt consoles in this generation outside of the Wii. So I guess I'll be playing a lot of Mario Strikers Charged until some of them pony up for Xbox 360 + Live.

I like both, but I don't want a game that is halfassed both.

For instance, Battlefield 2(for PC) is a great game to me and it does not have any single player involved. While I love the entire FF series which has no multi player. So as long as they do one of the 2 great, I'm happy.

I can't stand multiplayer games at all. Too many of the other players are immature asshats and it ruins the enjoyment of what would otherwise be enjoyable games. Sometimes... if the game is ONLY multiplayer, like WoW or Guild Wars, I'll only play solo and with all chat/communicate functions muted to the highest extent possible.

With a little bit of effort you can develop a friends list of good people to play with that make the game 500% more fun. 90% of the games I play are with people I've met during games that are mature, fun people.

Single player for the most part. Even tho I am an avid video game player, there are people who play games 24/7 and always whip my ass. 🙂

I totally agree with what your saying. Except I just don't seem to like single player games very much. I never play tacked on multiplayer modes; they are crap. And I don't play BF2 against bots either.

I think you are making too big a deal about the "immature asshats." I mean, of course there will be many people who are stupid/loud/etc in online multiplayer matches, just like there are in real life. Just gotta ignore em, and communicate with people you know and friends you have made while playing.

Your topic title says "Multiplayer and Singleplayer."

By that, you mean both...together. Otherwise you would have said "or" instead of "and".

Therefore, my decision goes to the only one you truly provided, "multi and single", aka as both together.

I used to be all about the singleplayer gaming. Then I started getting into FPSs like TFC and CS. After that I found I had much more fun playing online with friends than I did alone in my room. Now I've gone back to singleplayer gaming with my Wii. I find I enjoy multiplayer more in the same room via coop or Lanning than I do with random people. Granted once Wii gets some good online gaming I'll be all over it. (Probably next week or so when I buy Strikers.)
