I have a bit of money coming my way and I want to get a new display setup. I've had my current 19" Samsung CRT for 5 years and now need more screen space and something easier on the eyes, that means a multimonitor setup with 2 LCDs

I've got a few choices that are within my budget and am looking for opinions! My budget can be extended by a reasonable amount if the deal sounds good.

At the moment I am leaning on getting the two identical screens, simply to have an evenly spread desktop. Does anybody have any other Ideas?

These two monitors would look great together and provide plenty of desktop space.

imho this is a better solution, and here's why:

1. you get a faster widescreen monitor (compared to the 2001fp), perfect for movies and side by side word processing or web browsing.

2. 2005 is like 1680x1050, while the 1704 is 1280x1024 -> so your two monitors will physically have nearly identical hight, and you'll end up with a really wide strip of lcd panel goodness. This is my setup, except I have a crappy E173P except for the 1704, so while the screens line up, the wider plastic bezel on the E173P kind of ruins the continuity somewhat. But a 2005 and a 1705 ought to line up nearly perfectly in every way.

Cool  I was mostly wondering how they would line up... but it seems that this shouldn't be a Problem :)

Unfortunately it costs alot more than I am willing to spend. Dell Germany currently has some sweet 25% off deals on the 2005WFP and 1704FP series which I was able to take advantage of :D
