So I recently purchased two new Gigabyte 7950s with the 900MHz overclock and the nonstandard cooler (yay newegg sales!), and after some trouble with corrupted driver downloads due to a dislodged SATA cable got everything working properly for several weeks, minus what i thought was an HDMI sync issue that would resolve itself after several seconds when i turned my 3rd monitor in a multimonitor setup on and off. Fast forward to last week and the sync issue seemed to magically fix itself temporarily, but whenever i went to open a game, and then alt-tabbed, i would loose the configuration i had saved for where my displays were supposed to be set up. as i run 3 monitors this becomes an issue when i alt tab, because i have a 1680x1050 screen (LG w2252TQ, an HP ZR2740w, and a Hanns-G HD281G arranged in a different configuration than what the ATI driver seems to want to default to, making it impossible for me to play what i want to properly and in windowed mode so i can use my other monitor for a browser and the like. I tried updating to the 12.8 driver from the 12.6 that was available and it didn't do any good for the desktop arrangement issue, though the HDMI sync issue was fixed, leading me to think there's something else I'm missing here. any ideas? I'm going to go and try running c cleaner, and then using an older driver than 12.6, but i don't know how much good it might do.
exact setup is 22 inch then 27 inch then 28 inch, with the 22 and the 28 running off of the DVI and HDMI outs on my card, and the 27 inch running off the display port out via a mini-DP to DP adapter dongle (passive), Crossfire 7950s, and tested with 12.6 and 12.8 display drivers with no luck fixing. old setup with Crossfire 5870s worked just fine using old 11.8 drivers from my last update.
Also shmee, if you see this and have any ideas as to how to fix it call me in the afternoon when you see this, you gave me the adapter and so I feel like blaming you for my problems, it's just easier that way!
