I finally got a second vid card and set up multimonitor. My verdict is something to the tune of GOOD GOOD GOOD!!! How did I ever do graphics work with one display?

I have an idea of what you did. but can you explain in more detail ? I may think of doing this once my computer is finshed.

sure. i have one AGP video card which i used by itself until today. i installed a PCI card in an open slot....battled Windows ASD for a while...ta da! but i'm sure there are others on this forum who are *much* more experienced with this than i.

I understand that, but what are the benefits of having two video cards ? What are the disadvantages. ?

I did dualie monitors/displays for years!! it was a breeze when win98se came along!
I actually bought a matched pair of S3/Virge 3d 4 meg PCI Cards about 3 years ago, just for it!
You can do a lot more work w/two displays, some programs have built in/native support for it (Illustrator 7 & Up), more screenspace means a lot less flipping back and forth between windows, more pallates/windows/toolboxes can stay open, and it really impresses friends!!

dual monitors?? that's so YESTERDAY! now i've got THREE monitors running!

all i'm saying is that the options are endless! i believe win2k supports up to TEN monitors! i don't know how i lived w/out more than one for soooo long!

Thanks for the responses to my question. I have another though, when you use two monitors it your desktop just expanded?

yes and no. the start bar wont go across both, just one, but you can drag icons over so you have a long, or tall, or weird desktop.

i have a radeon and a voodoo3 pci.

i wish it could clone CS on the second...oh well...
