I have an Intel Desktop Mobo Board (D485PEBT2), with built in Six channel audio with analog, coaxial digital, and optical digital output (SoundMAX Cadenza).

However, when I plug my Polk sterio speaker (from an old HP pavilion), the colume even at max, is quite low. I have tried to increase it by all means .. but of no avail. Any possible reasons?

I was thinking that maybe I need a 5.1 speaker system. Currently, I'm in the process of evaluting two systems, both of which can be obtained at around $50:

1. Logitech Z-640 Speakers or
2. Creative Labs Inspire 5.1

Can anybody please suggest which deal would be a better one?

Thanks!

I can't comment on the Creatives, but the Logitechs are really nice for the money. I bought a set for the kids comp and my comp while they have the current $20 rebate. Cost less than $50 shipped after rebate per set. The controls on the center channel speaker are the way to go, don't get speakers with the controls on the subwoofer, to inconvenient to change.

does anyone know how either of these connect to the sound card? Does each pair have it's own connection to the sound card? How do they fair to a single AC97 input?
