Multi-Touch working on the Nexus One.

I really don't understand why they don't just enable it in the US. Blah blah patent issues blah blah, doesn't stop HTC, Microsoft (HD2), Palm, or anyone else, why does it stop Google? Do they have a backroom contract with Apple they aren't telling us about? Doesn't seem like a lucrative idea, especially with rumors swirling that Apple will be replacing Google with Bing on the iPhone.

Of course, I personally hate pinch-to-zoom, when I had a Pre I still used double tap, but if the masses want it....just add it already!

I know that's the popular theory, but when you consider how heated the Apple vs Google mobile war has gotten recently, it would be kinda surprising to see it still stand.

i dont get it either. it HAS to be something with a secret apple-google deal. i mean, how is it possible that EVERY other company who wants multitouch gestures can have it (microsoft, palm, htc like you said) but not "by google" android devices like the nexus one? on the engadget show interview, josh interviewed erick tseng and he said that they are "always looking into implementing new ideas for the future". well thats just BS. how the hell can the european counterparts that are available right NOW have multitouch but the usa versions cant? i use all the multitouch gestures on my iphone - its to the point where it makes my own personal experience a lot better than most other phones. my next phone needs to have at least a similar experience to the iphone, and im betting (i lied, most definitely) my next phone will be the next iphone.

with the whole search thing, i prefer google as my default search and will switch that to the default. i have no problem with bing being the default over google, considering the only two choices on the iphone are google and yahoo (which is actually powered by bing). as long as i can switch between the two freely, i have no complaints.
