In what was like a scene out of the blues brothers 21 police cars (my count) are chasing a driver across a plowed field. When he is stopped he is yanked out of the car then the police take turns stomping and punching him. And it's not just one or two its many and they look like they all want to, jumping over cars trying to squeeze in line to get to the driver. The video says it all you can see hands punching and feet stomping not sure why the article says it's hard to see. Of course leading police in a chase is wrong I just think the forces were way to excessive. His original crime was that he was wanted for purse snatching.

Yea I just noticed the suspect clearly put his hands out of the window and the officer at first grabs them then let's go to open the door to grab him.

I usually agree with you on most of the issues in here, but on this one I'll take the counterpoint. The law is way too lax on people that engage in high speed police chases. It is incredibly dangerous and puts the lives of every civilian and every cop on the route at risk. Everyone has their adrenaline running high, I'd say that should be the one time where police are encouraged to use a little of the old ultra-violence on the perp. Maybe we can work out a formula, like every cop involved in the chase gets 2 seconds of time for every minute the chase lasts. 10 cops chase a guy for 15 minutes each one of them gets 30 seconds to beat the idiot free of charge. Maybe it will stop the criminals from trying to flee a freaking purse snatching charge.

Hell no, you're innocent until proven guilty in the court of law and the court decides your fate - not a cop on an adrenaline rush. For the most part high speed chases shouldn't happen, it puts way too many lives in danger. Most departments have adopted a catch them later approach rather than risking the lives of innocent bystanders

That pursuit should have been ended way, way sooner than it did. There were ample times to end that pursuit with a PIT. Not sure why they didn't do it unless the departments don't allow it or the officers weren't trained. Even with that, the pursuit was very well performed by the officers UNTIL the arrest. There is no excuse or reason that I can see that the officers did what they did at the end. While I am sure a lot has to do with the adrenaline rush from the pursuit itself, the officers need to be able to contain that for when the pursuit ends.

Its obvious that their lives were in imminent danger and a split second decision to stomp a guy for 2 minutes was needed by all 15 of those officers. How can it be seen any other way?

That looks pretty rough at first glance, but in reality it was a weak ass-whooping since the suspect walked away under his own power. He really didn't look to be in any pain at all and was fully alert after said ass-whooping, so outrage not found.

:D Why the hell were there that many cars chasing him? What did the last 15 think that they could achieve that the first 5 couldn't?

Not a good sign, Bro! How did you become certain the law is too lax on such people and should be lax somewhere else to compensate? What kind of snowflake is it that thinks people should be beaten to fix your frustration. That's what psychiatrists are for.

Dangerous and life threatening. If he had hit his head during the initial crash and had any sort of head trauma or concussion then a beating like that could easily end his life.
