Multi-Speed DVD-R

I have some TDK 4X DVD-R. I have (I think) a 2.4X dvd burner. How do I know if the media is multispeed and will work. My drive seems buggy and dosn't recognize it. In shoty I guess what I'm saying is is it my drive that is bad or the media?

You may need to flash the firmware in your drive. When 4X media first came out, there was generally a warning printed on the label about using high speed media with a 2X drive.

2.4x is for DVD+R/RW only. It's not that you try to burn a DVD-R on a burner that only supports DVD+R/RW is it?

Try a firmware update from the manufacturers website, and check the media as well.

All is well now. But now I have a somewhat related problem. My pc has been restarting when I use my DVD+-RW drive. Nero says that I have bad ASPI? Any relationship between the two? How would I fix this.
