Multi-Region DVD Player?

Is there such a thing as a multi-region DVD player? If so, are there any models that are recommended?

There is a great Sherlock Holmes box set that I'd love to buy, but it's available only in Region 2 format. Being in the United States, I only have access (to my knowledge) to region 1 format players. Any ideas on what I could do?

I have a 3-disc GE 5803P that has a hack available to make it multi region and a bunch of other stuff. Made by Shinco (the same folks who make Apex players). I paid $35 for it on Ebay. Has optical and coax digital audio out, and a karaoke function, etc.
