So I went out and had lunch with some friends, came back home at 1:30. At 3:00 I go to walk out my front door and WHAM run right into a huge cardboard box - 4' long x 1' deep x 2.5' tall. The box is pretty beat up but for the most part intact.

Apparently UPS didn't think it was necessary to knock or ring the doorbell before leaving it. Oh did I mention I live right on a major street? Right, ok, anyway.

So I open the box up - it is filled with those air bag packing things.

And a packing slip.

And nothing else.

The box was SUPPOSED to contain a 4' long level. (the kind you use in construction) But nope, nothing there.

Too funny.

My UPS story for the week:

Yesterday I got two identical shipping/tracking emails for an item that I had no idea what it was (did a ton of online ordering for the holiday, everything we ordered has since arrived). So I check the tracking in the email(s) and its for an item that was delived on the 9th... and I got the tracking/shipping email on the 19th!

Other story, is jsut the other day UPS delivered a box to our house.... they literally opened the front door, chucked into into my foyer and left. No knock, no doorbell. I wasn't home at the time, but my wife was and she nearly had a heartattack.

Good service UPS! YOU SUCK.

Well, two thumbs up for Amazon's customer service. Although oddly I was on the phone for a good 15 minutes, the rep kept apologizing profusely (although honestly I suspect UPS is at fault here) and is re-shipping the item "expedited" and giving me a $5 credit for the hassle. I tried to explain that shipping it slower would probably work out better for me, but the guy couldn't get that through his head so.. well, whatever.

The reason it's funny is because it's something I really didn't need, (bought it because it was on sale, cheap w/free shipping) am not in any hurry for xmas, etc - and if you had seen the size of the box (my golden retriever could use it to sleep in) and the fact that it had nothing but the packing material and invoice in it.. well, you had to be there.

That is pretty funny, although how they could not notice there was nothing in the box before they filled it with packing material is beyond me. :p

In my experience Amazon rarely makes mistakes and when they do they more than rectify it.

What if I ordered a 60" plasma then called them up and said the box was empty? Not that I would do that of course.

yea...i have ordered them in the past wihtout a problem, until yesterday. i ordered a product on dec 3, and they claimed it was shipped dec 13th. their most conservative delivery date was dec 19th. never got it, and found out neither amazon tracking nor usps has record of that tracking number. called them today, and they are overnighting a new order to me so i can get it before christmas...hopeflly it comes

Amazon has been real slow for me. I ordered a book in early Nov. When I ordered it there was a "Christmass delivery guaranteed" logo on the order page. Around about the third week of Nov the logo magically disappeared from the order page. About a week ago the book was unavailable. I wish they wouldn't sell stuff they don't have.

Also, my latest order was "being prepared for shipping" since Saturday night. I figured the worker filling the order must have taken a couple minutes to smoke a joint behind the warehouse before finishing the order but things must have gone bad. I figure the guy got the munchies and had to run out to bag some doritos and was busted for DUI. I'm sure the order will be shipped when he gets done serving his three days. The other possibility is that Amazon yet again sold an item they don't have even though they said "usually ships in 1-2 days" a week and a half ago.

I order an item from amazon two satudays ago. Well the item didn't ship until this past satuday and it arrived here on monday. So it took them a week to ship it but it only took 2 non working days to get here. So I guess it all works out in the end. I once had bought a dewalt miter saw that was broke when it arrived. They gave me an rma and shipped me a new saw which had a shipping label to use to ship back the old one. I can't complain about their service.

Agreed, I have nothing bad to say about their service - in fact, I believe I placed this order 3 days ago, and chose the free shipping option, so they are obviously busting their ass trying to get orders out in time for christmas.

In fact they even split up my $18 order into 3 shipments (and I explicitly didn't pay for that).

I had a similar experience, except for whatever reason the box was cut open (right across the tape) and left at my front door. Deliveryman didn't even knock or ring the doorbell.
