looking for at least an electric drill/screwdriver combo. if it can do other things, even better.

Is there anything decent for maybe $100 or less? $50 or less would be ideal but thats probably really limiting myself.

Seconded. IIRC, they make a cordless drill gun for around $99 that you can pick up at Home Depot. You can use any driver bits (I have flathead, Philips, and a security bit set that includes tri-wings, hex, etc.), plus drill bits, hole saws, etc.

the 2 position one they have looks about what i want. i just need to check to see how big it is.

this one
looking at the pics with the guy using it, seems like a good size. it mentions about pre-drilling so I assume you can use drill bits with it? just looked at the accessories you can get for it and it does show drill bits. will have to check the price on this one.

$89.99 from Northern Tool and Equipment. I think thats where I ordered my knife from.
bah, northern tool has a 2.5 ratign on resellerrating.com

Yeah, that is the one I have. Got it for $99 a couple years ago at Home Depot, but I don't think they carry that particular mode anymore. I love it and would recommend it. I got into speaker building a couple years ago and the flip-action has really come in handy for getting into small spaces. It also comes with a spare battery; I keep the charger on my desk next to my monitor so that I always have a fresh battery. I use the Dewalt probably weekly around the house for small jobs; it's very handy and light enough to tote anywhere. Be warned that it doesn't have as much power as it's big brothers, but with a little oomph on your end you can get most jobs done. Like, don't expect it to take a 3/8" drill bit, but it can handle the smaller ones just fine.

I would suggest picking up a few accessories. First, a small box of drywall screws - I've found this to be extremely handy for putting up pictures, shelfs, small furniture, etc. They really have a lot of uses. Second, get a small can of flathead and Philips drill bits. That way you have a few different sizes plus have spares. I use the #2 Philips (+) most of the time. Third, pick up a set of drill bits and an appropriate chuck (adapter). The small bits always come in handy. Fourth, if you'd use them, get a set of security bits. Harbor Freight sells a 100-piece set for under $10 which can be used on everything from oddball computers to game systems like the Xbox and Wii to whatever else has weird screws:

really, all i need is the screwdriver part. being able to drill would just be an added bonus so i don't have to go buy a separate drill.
