If I'm running a game on my 24" LCD and click on the desktop on my other monitor which is a 19" LCD, the game will minimize back to desktop on the first screen.

Are there any applications, settings to prevent this?

Not that i know of.

I've wanted to be able to to that forever (since i've run dual displays for a long time), so if there's a way, i'll be very happy...

No, how I move my mouse cursor out of the game onto the desktop on the other monitor. I can do that, but once I click on the desktop it minimizes the game. I want to be able to open applications and stuff on the other monitor without losing my game.

Some games allow this, especially crappy console ports like EA's sports games, etc.

Of course, clicking on the desktop just minimizes the game though, as has been mentioned.

I play GTR2 with a telemetry monitor running on the other screen.

Unfortunately GTR2 doesn't react well to alt-tabbing out or minimizing while in game.

Ultramon has hotkeys to move the active window to other monitors, or even just the mouse cursor itself, and it works for me in fullscreen games too.

Holy crap i've used Ultramon forever & never even thought about that.

Hmm, gonna go test that.

Edit: Not working for me...in some games, it moves the mouse over, but as soon as you click, it minimizes teh game...

And that's the same problem the OP is having. Figure it out and help him! =P
I guess some games are like that and nothing you can do about it.

Mind telling us just what games that works in, since you say it works for you?

I just tried Ultramon, and while it has some good features, such as a taskbar on the second monitor and the ability to have different wallpapers on both monitors, it isn't helping me with my game though. Actually it doesn't work with any hardware accelerated game.
