Multi-Media-fying my computer

I am going to be needing to rely on my pc for almost all of my multimedia pretty soon (stereo, tv etc.) and am kind of lost as to which components to buy. I have an am2 5200+ Windsor and an asus m2n-sli deluxe nforce 570 motherboard.

The on board sound isn't the greatest and I know nothing about sound cards or speakers, I would use my computer for everything from gaming, classical music, jazz and funk, and movie and television watching. I need a recommendation for a good sound card for that as well as some good speakers (2.1 is preferable).

I will also need a tv tuner card for this upgrade and I am so confused by all the mixed reviews from everywhere. I am running XP pro and have an 8800gts, so I am wondering if it may be possible to recieve HDTV through it, though I am not sure I could display it on my 19" BenQ FP91G+. all in all, I have no idea at all.

my total budget is around $300, but I would like to minimize expenses as much as I can.

Thank you.

Pick out a Happaugue tv card with a remote. Ebay sells them for cheap. However, if you want HDTV, you need a HDTV-capable TV card. I don't think they're cheap. Anyway, once you install it in the pc, you will watch TV on the desktop like you're playing games or browsing the Web. A TV card usually has only input and no output. It outputs to your video card.
