I just couldn't undertsand the story. To its credit, the two lesian scenes are the hottest out there I think.

if you want to find out the meaning salon.com has a review of it that is 'kind of' there, but they miss a lot of stuff.

I think up until she had her masterbating dream, everything was fake.

Otherwise, just skip to the good scenes and ignore the rest.

The plot summary sounds like a chick-flic'd version of Requiem for a Dream. Now that was a nice movie.

It confuses you because it's pointless. That movie was utter sh*t. Even worse than secret window. That people actually pretended to get something from a movie that admits it has nothing to give is even sadder to me.

Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean others can't find enjoyment from it.

Bumping up an old thread, but...
Just watched the movie, that was pretty messed up. Before reading the website CR linked to I thought that Betty/Diane/Rita were the same person and that she was suffering from schizophrenia or something. In any case, the salon.com explanation seems to makes much more sense; one of the weirdest movies I've seen, without a doubt.

I loved that movie... the first time I saw it, after I came out of the theatre I felt like I was in a different world or something... had trouble falling asleep athat night too.

I actually drove Mulholland Drive only a week ago. Some awesome views from up there.
