Mulholland Dr. is up there as a contender for "worst ending ever"

I've heard it's a good movie and that's Naomi Watts gets it on with another actress ... which is good enough reason to check it out ... eventually.

Agreed. The only thing good about this movie was the lesbian scene and anybody pretending to get anything more out of it is deluding themselves. I've yet to hear anything meaningful about the movie in terms of plot or worth of the movie and yet people seem to like it. So, I must conclude it's only the lesbo scene.

 Skroob

i watched the movie and didn't get shi7. so i headed of to search the web for wtf that movie was about. after reading huge amounts of stuff the concept of the movie seemed interesting but still didn't get the most part of the symbolism. so i didn't bother looking further...

and there are better lesbian scenes out there 😀

david lynch is amazing.
its an interesting movie worth more than one watch. there is more to life that lesbian sex.
visually the movie is as stunning as anything he has done and as far as plot is concerned it certainly is something worth thinking about...
the fantasy world that watts lives in compared with her drug-addled reality and (what appears to be) eventual suicide and the rather dark take on what life is like for all those that attempt the True American Dream to become a hollywood star makes this film something i can go back and watch again and again.
id say its one of his best films.

Heh, I clicked this thread and was about to argue with you, when I realized the movie I had in my head was Arlington Road. Wrong street.... 😱

The Namomi Watts lezbo scene was the end for me so I thought it ended pretty good 😉

Really though, that was one stupid-ass film. David Lynch should be, well, lynched.

So really I'm quite right to conclude that the movie was devoid of a plot 🙂

Watched about 15 minutes before I fell asleep. Nothing in those 15 minutes made me consider trying to watch it again.

i understand that a lot of people didnt like it. but i think its kind of sad that the most people find only the nudity/sex scenese redeeming. i mean, for david lynch. id be so sad if i worked hard to create something like this and found most people just wanted to see ms. watts ta-tas.
but anyway...
i thought there was a definite plot there. it took my friends and i a little time but i think we started to hit upon a plausible theory for what was "really" happening. obviously, i dont want to have to put that kind of work into every movie i watch. nor do i think most people do. but i think this film didnt uneccesarily demand multiple watchings...i chose to watch again and again becuase i felt intrigued by what was happening and was drawn back again and again. i see the film as having a strong story and being visually stunning. i also feel that the film is designed to be very dependant on interpretation.

But at least the lesbian sex scene was good.

the plot was amorphous. i suppose if you saw it thinking you'd be "entertained," then
the only entertaining scenes would have been those.

PatboyXYour interpretation is probably accurate. Personally I'm too lazy to want to think much in a movie 🙂

and to see the bewbies over and over!
What's dumb is there are no sections in the movie chapter. You have to fast forward at 32x or whatever is max speed just like VHS to get anywhere in the film.

To my credit, I did understand the movie and came to the same conclusions Salon.com did (Everything you were afraid to ask about "Mulholland Drive"). To Lynch's credit, he's every bit as good as Stanley Kubrick in using silence and crawling shots to create a dark, brooding atmosphere.

Technical brilliance aside, it was at best a lousy movie. I can see the loose ends that the TV series would have picked up from all over the place, and that's no way for a $10 mil+ feature to act. I give Mulholland Dr. a C-.

While the lesbo scene was really quite nice (Naomi Watts is hot...and I normally not into blond girls), there is some worthwhile comedy in the movie and some of the cinematography was quite good. Now as for a plot, it doesn't exist in my opinion...and I actually believe that is what the David Lynch was going for. Even if he was going for something different...that doesn't actually make it good. So I agree, in many ways this movie was a waste...but it got Naomi Watts noticed...and that is good enough for me...I think she's an awesome actress.
