Sorry, I couldn't read the rest of the thread. My eyes glazed over and I seem to be disoriented after seeing the words, "$2000 mufflers"

It has a lot to do with economies of scale. 4,000 Z4 Ms made versus 80 bazillion Mustangs/Corvettes. 😛

But still, there's nothing special about mufflers. The ones you linked in the OP were just normal mufflers with the pipes tilted a little bit. A muffler shop can recreate that in about an hour. If you pay them $2000, they'll drop whatever they're doing and call in a hooker while you wait.

What he said. This has nothing to do with economies of scale. It has to do with inelastic demand from the targeted group of BMW owners. I'd call them boneheads for dropping that much for a muffler, but who am I to talk? If that were my car/demographic, it'd probably put me in the financial position to do it too.

Luckily, most mods not made by HKS for the Supra don't cost all that much.

You should up the performance and get a set of catless headers. After that you may reconsider going mufflerless. I doubt you gain anything (might actually lose) by going with a muffler delete with the stock cats and manifolds.
