Muffler bolts don't tighten anymore...

Elixer

Lifer
This is on a old lawn mower, so there is heat and vibration going on, and I am wondering how to fix this?
The bolts just spin forever and are loose, so it is stripped at the engine mount side.

Anyone know if epoxy (like JB weld) will do the trick, or will the bond be too weak because of the heat & vibration going on?
I don't really care if the muffler never comes off again.

Helicoil is the right way.
On an old lawnmower, i would go straight to JB weld every 6 months until replacement

It is, just make sure you buy the kit that matches the fastener diameter and thread pitch you're dealing with.

Yeah, seems that is the next order of business, figuring out what size I need.
I suppose I can go to the hardware store and check their bolt size checkers.
