Well I started upgrading my computer. Sunk alot of money into a DVD burner, New hard drive, lots of RAM, mouse, keyboard etc. I dont do much gaming and didnt have much cash left so I was wondering is this Video Card much of an upgrade from the Intel Extreme Graphics 2 that came with the computer?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814145067

Will I be able to tell much of a difference..I dont do alot of gaming..Mostly videos. Although I do play WOW from time to time...thanks for the help..

EDIT : oh and btw I had to get low profile cause its a dell Mini Tower Optiplex GX270

Sorry, but that's a terrible, terrible card. It'll probably be better than your integrated graphics, but don't expect to play modern games on it. What're the rest of your specs?

Yeah I dont play games on my computer. Just WOW every once in a while but thats it. I do watch videos. DVD's and streaming videos. Im new to actually working on computers and stuff so please keep that in mind..lol. Some of my computer specs. Pentium 4 2.4 GHZ, 3GB of RAM, 250GB Harddrive with XP... I just wanted to make an upgrade pretty much for videos and stuff..You think this will be OK?

Well, WoW would run about 100 times better with even something as simple as a 9600GT. The rest of your applications probably would not seen any improvement at all. If it did, it would not be noticable. So I guess WoW is the only thing that would stand to benefit from by upgrading the video...

Why do I have a slight suspician this thread was a prank... Linked to a GeForce 5200FX which is almost as bad as Intel Integrated... ! ! !

Are you having trouble watching videos with the integrated graphics? You should have plenty enough horsepower for decoding DVDs and standard def content. If you want to watch 1080p or something, a 5200 won't help.

What's you Budget? FX5200 is very old these days, not sure if it's an upgrade, although it likely is considering the overall system.

Buffering of videos and stuff online is your internet connection.

I'd say return it, the graphics on that card (its the entry level version of a card that is FIVE generations old) isn't worth even $30. Save up for a bit longer and maybe pick up a 2600XT agp for like $60. That card should be able to handle WoW decently enough for you as long as you keep the settings down

How is this Card? http://www.amazon.com/Nvidia-G...&qid=1231445431&sr=8-1

Remember I have to use a Low Profile card cause its a mini tower..Would this run video and WOW ok?

the 6200 is probably ~20% better than the 5200. Which, 20% better than horrid is still horrid. I'd just stick with what you got until you can get a case that supports full size video cards, then get something like a 2600XT/7600GT

On Newegg the best you're going to do is a Radeon 3450. The only Nvidia AGP low profile cards are FX5200's which are pretty terrible. I'm not sure how the 3450/6200 stack up, but if I had to guess I'd imagine the 3450 is slightly better.

There's no low profile AGP cards that will give you even bottom of the barrel performance in BC and Wrath (that I've found, nothing better than 3450)

Either get yourself a case that can use a full size card, or a new motherboard with a pci-e slot. You can get good low profile pci-e cards

Don't go away just yet.

You're right - with a GX270 you're stuck needing a "shorty" video card. Unfortunately there's not any out there that will handle WotLK.

Also, WoW has gotten quite CPU/RAM intensive. If you play much of it at all you're probably going to need a whole upgrade - CPU/mobo/RAM/GPU and case/PSU also.

This can be done for possibly less cash than you might expect, probably in the $200 range. Let us know if you want suggestions for a setup.

ok I've been playing wow now for a while and i love it but i want to get the expansions. CanIrunit.com says i need Video HW Transform & Lighting. My question now is are there any low profile AGP vid cards that have this and that can run Burning crusade and WOTLK. Just wondering if there are any low profile agp video cards that have Video HW transform and lighting? what about this one?

Everything else about my system qualifies to play those 2 expansions.

Pretty sure that is a DX7 card... you don't want that. Get the Radeon 3450.

After the Radeon 7200/7500's there was the 8500 and some others. Then the Radeon 9x00 cards. Then the Radeon x1x00 cards. Then the Radeon HD2900 cards. Then the Radeon 3x00 cards. That shoud give you an idea on how old the 7500 is. :) I think I had that card back when DDR was cutting edge. :) Maybe 6-7 years ago?
