The 2400+ operates at 266mhz and the 2600+ at 333mhz.

The 2400+ retail at newegg is $135. The 2600+ retail at newegg is $234.

I'm planning on getting an ECS L7S7A2 which can handle either processor. Currently I have 512mb of Crucial pc2100 DDR memory and won't be upgrading that just yet. The rest of my system specs are in my sig.

So the questions are:

1. How much of a performance difference, given what I have, is there between the 2400+ and 2600+? Is it worth the $99 in cost?
2. Should I later upgrade my memory to DDR 333 will that increase the difference between the two processors? Which memory is recommended?

Thanks!

it really depends on your financial sitatuation. 333 are the newer bartons...

if cash is a major concern, my recommendation is to get PC2700 ram (333) and go with the 2400 for now. later if you decide to go for a 333 processor, you've got ram that'll run at the speeds you need. at least, this is what i did: crucial pc2700 and athlon 2000. later this year i can go to a barton when 400 bus has pervaded the market
