It's sad to see anyone with a mental illness that is so dibilitating. :( My oldest daughter is 5 and is autistic and mentally retarded. I have nothing but compassion for people and their families that have these types of problems.

Wow, you have a big heart dude. Your daughter sounds very lucky to have you in her life.

My brother-in-law has tourette syndrome. He was once pulled over by a state trooper and got nervous so the ticks were more prevalent. The trooper kept asking him why he was making all those funny sounds and told him he needed to stop. Needless to say, he got the ticket thrown out when he went to court. He mainly has vocal ticks.

I'm not sure how many of you saw this past week's True Life which showed the lives of three people suffering from tourette syndrome. One person in particular broke my heart. Alyssa, a girl from California, has very bad tourettes. She is often in pain because of the involuntary movements. She makes loud noises as well.

It broke my heart to see her go through it all and then go to that special type of surgery only to have it not work.

It also opened my eyes and made me realize how lucky I am and how lucky a lot of people are and that we take a lot of things for granted. We shouldn't.

My prayers are with her and her family. I pray one day that there will be a cure for tourettes.

I caught it (I'm 29, not a teen watching MTV, just channel surfing and caught it) and I felt the exact same way. It's sad because you look at that girl and think she's very beautiful but her disease cripples her socially. If I had what these kids had I don't know that I could find the courage to cope with it and go out into the world.

I felt the same exact way. She reminds me of Britney Spears' sister.

I felt especially bad for her when she had that attack at Disneyworld and her supposedly "understanding" friends somewhat turned on her. Mind you they got pushed, but I think to befriend someone with that disease or truly care for them you'd have to have an infinite well of patience.

Indeed. Her grandmother is one patient person and my heart goes out to her as well. She stuck through thick and thin and NEVER lost her cool with her.

The girl Alyssa really got to me because she looked and acted like someone I know (during her normal spells) so it was kinda weird to see that transition.

The one guy who was a comedian was pretty funny, but you know he only made fun of himself as a defense mechanism. When he went out on that date and it was a disaster it made me really appreciate what I have in a normal life.

My sentiments, exactly. I found his MySpace so I'm going to message him on there.

Also, the fiance of that biker "Twitch"....OMG was she smoking. That kid looked like he had some money. I didn't feel quite as bad for him ;).

LOL!!!!!!!!!!! I felt the same way. I told my wife damn that guy is ballin'. Also yes, his wife was very pretty.
