Anyways, I have given up this afternoon to going around and assimilating every last machine I can find. Since the schools where I work are on holidays, and I have spent all morning trying to get the keys to some of them, I think I'm going to go try to check them out and put SETI on anything that remotely resembles a PC... I know they have abacuses (?) somewhere!! 😀 😉

So Team OctoberQuest, I challenge each and every one of you to double your production over the next few days... heck I'm going to try to double mine!! 😀😀

And to all non-OctoberQuest teams, consider the gauntlet well and truly thrown!

I will be adding a Cely 466 in a couple days once I find a case and CDrom and recieve my HDD in the mail. It won't be much, but it will be doubling my wu's. 😀

burn seti on a cd, transfer it over, then burn the finished wu's on a cd again and transfer them back. you could also use floppies.

i have a k6-2 450 i had to do this for, can't get the network cards to work in it. 🙁

wu's are around 26 hours, is that normal for a machine such as this?
 
Cool, I can do that....any special tricks, or is it self evident? Its a Celery rig I built for my daughter...even 1 WU a day will be 30 more at the end of the month!
 
Yes it's possible rbV5!! 😀

What I think is the most economical way of doing it is to use SETI Driver to cache some WUs (however many you want - usually 10 or more is good for a couple of days on most machines) on a computer that DOES have internet access. Then just zip the directory that you had SETI Driver in onto a floppy disk and unzip it onto your network-less internet-less machine!! Easy as peas!

I just created a folder, put seti driver and the cli in it. Then i ran it to download some work units. Then burnt the whole folder to a cd. It was very easy. 🙂
