MT/s?

I looked around and could not find an answer to what the "MT/s" stands for when describing the FSB of the A8N-SLI Deluxe. According to the Asus website this board supports:

"Front Side Bus: 2000 MT/s, 1600MT/s"

I assume they mean the HTT frequency, but what does the MT stand for?

If the Hypertransport links are 16-bit in both directions, that's 2 bytes transferred per cycle.
