The GSR may be $34K, but that's with the 5-speed manual and less features than the MR. The MR is really the STi's competitor, with its 6-speed DSG. IIRC, the MR stickers about $40K as well.

Yeah they don't seem to want to mention that in the review, the base STI minus navigation and the BBS wheels is something like $35k-ish.

Does anyone know if the MR has some kind of launch control with the DSG?

Decent review I guess if the only thing you care about is performance, they don't really comment on any other aspects of either car. I think the base Evo should still get a 6 speed for the kind of jack you are laying down.

If I had to choose today I would still go with the STI, the boxer burble is worth the $1000 difference to me.

Calling it an econobox on steroids is missing the point, really, IMHO.
