So I experiencing a rather unusual situation with this no name kvm switch I picked up. I had connected it at first while my computer was still one, seeing no issue as it was just D-SUB and USB connections, its all hot swappable. I went to restart the computer and the POST process took a ridiculous amount of time to complete. The only way I can avoid the serious slow down is to disconnect the USB connection, let Windows boot up first and then connect the usb connection to the KVM. Once Windows has taken control of the computer, everything's fine. It's only prior to Windows that the computer comes to crawl. I can from POST details that it tries to initialize "USB 2.0 Hub" a few times. The board is an ASUS M3A78-EM. I did some google researching and the same issue has occured with an eeeTOP with another no name KVM. Just wondering if anyone else has any ideas on the issue. There seems to be nothing technically wrong with the KVM as i works wih my other PCs w/o an ASUS board.

I've repeatedly had a different (annoying) issue with KVM if I change any cables while any system has power. I usually forgot what I needed to do each time I messed with cables...

The key was an AMD system with an Asus mobo: even powered down, the KVM switch detected it was powered.

My solution was to power down all machines, and then remove the power cable from that one AMD system. After powering them all back up again, my issue disappeared.

Try going into the BIOS and changing the Legacy USB Support option from "AUTO" to "Enabled" or "Disabled". If you set it to "Disabled" make sure you have PS/2 keyboard handy or you won't be able to get into the BIOS anymore without clearing the CMOS.
