A friend had an episode on tape that we watched last night. The movie they did was "Jack Frost". I laughed until I was crying! An unimaginably bad movie with screamingly funny commentary by the "audience".

So what other MST3K episodes are of similar quality? I want to track some down.

So far my favorite still is "Mitchell". It stars Joe Don Baker and Linda Evans and features such fun mid 70's staples as car chases at 25 miles per hour in nice 70's land yachts along with lots of 70's "chocowaca" music.

"Joel why would anyone do that with Mitchell?"

Most of the ones with Joel are really good. The later ones with Mike just didn't measure up most of the time.

My wife's and I's favorite is where they watched The Final Sacrifice. Early 90's Canadian flick. Very, very funny!

Since we are talking MTS3K here who remembers the good old days when Comedy Central would do their 24 hour "Turkey Fest" on Thanksgiving? Non stop MST3K for 24 hours.

I miss Onion World with Rich Hall and Night after Night with Allan Havey - sweet Jebus that was some great late night television! Does anyone remember the "Wheel of Comedy?" That was hillarious! :D

Night of the Blood Beast and Bloodlust are great. Any of the ones from season 7 are excellent.

I must be one of the few people who actually liked the Mike episodes better than the Joel episodes overall. I think in the Joel years, most of the films were a lot easier to work with. Either way, I enjoy it all though.

My personal favorite is the Giant Spider Invasion episode. It had several good moments, but if for no other reason than the classic line:

Packers won the Super Bowl! Packers!!! WOOOOooooo!!

MST3K = "Mystery Science Theater 3000". A weird comedy show that ran on Comedy Central and later on SciFi Network. There's a small cast of characters that watch a bad movie and make snide remarks about the movie the whole time.

They have little comedy segments in between parts of the movie but that part didn't interest me very much.

The MST3K Movie wasn't all that bad, but many of the earlier episodes were funnier :)

I've seen these on VHS at the video store for $3. Anyone know if there will be a DVD set? Any idea how many were made in total?

You can currently get them on DVD. Probably not every episode but I've seen many and own a couple.

I think one of the companies with a hand in the production over the years is forbidding the release of the episodes they're affiliated with. There's a whole story since they changed networks, producers and other crew over the years. But basically the gist of it when I read on this last time was that there won't be a mass release of episodes anytime soon. There are maybe a couple dozen though that have been released on VHS/DVD from one of the production companies.

There are maybe about 40 eps on VHS, and 15 on DVD. The problem is that they no longer have the rights to redistribute some of the films they did. They can only release ones they re-negotiated(tough because now the people who own them realize they are actually worth something or are upset at the treatment the films got), still have the rights to from the first time around, or are public domain.

Mr. B Natural was a woman playing a man. And yes, it was very, very, very gay.
