You guys are all forgetting why this product will work. All Ms os's will autoupdate themselves to suddenly NOT work with ipod software and start ruining mp3 files.

Then when you try out the new ms player, it will come with "software" that will rejuvinate your collection.

this is retarded. i was going to comment that this is as much an ipod killer as the xbox is a ps2 killer......... but this is way worse. the 'portable media center' and the ipod don't even appeal to the same market. eventually we'll have a portable device that'll display pictures and play movies (w/ a 40gb capacity), but at this size and price tag, now is NOT the time to bring such a device to the market.

Seriously guys, this is old news (maybe news to Europe.) I posted about this like 3 weeks ago. And its NOT an iPod killer, more like M$'s attempt to define a portable audio/video standard before Apple makes an iPod that does video.

For a portable device, it's too big and too complicated. I don't want my mp3 player running on Windows CE, and I don't want a portable Xbox. The IPOD is better.

Speaking of iPods. I'm looking for an mp3 player to buy for my dad. Is the iPod the best one out right now still? Does the software work nicely in Windows? Any help would be cool. Maybe like a quick pm from someone who owns one.
