MSNBC/Time commentator calls President a <male appendage>

Linflas

Lifer
MSNBC panelist suspended after Obama insult

Halperin quickly apologized for the remarks, in which he told fellow panelists on the "Morning Joe" program that Obama was "kind of a d--k" for blasting Republican lawmakers during a Wednesday news conference. He had been told the program was on a seven-second delay before he delivered his assessment.

Classy move by the fellow panelists on MSNBC to tell the guy he was covered by a 7 second delay and then letting it go out.

For once I agree with MSNBC. You know it's bad for this failed president when MSNBC is calling him for what he is.

LOL!

Good for Mr. Halperin.

I wonder if MSNBC has ever disciplined a guest or employee for saying disrespectful things about a Republican?

I believe Ed Shultz got suspended briefly for calling Laura Ingraham a slut.

I wonder if Geraldo Rivera got disciplined by FNC for calling Casey Anthony "a slut"...

That's what I remember.

In Halperin's defense, Obama WAS "a bit of a dick." However MSNBC did the right thing. A network simply can't have its commentators saying those things about anyone in politics, especially the President.

And calling Casey Anthony a slut is showing mercy, considering what she REALLY is.

EDIT: On the other hand, I'd happily support a mandatory unpaid one week suspension for any on-air person mentioning Casey Anthony at all, absent reading one sentence with the verdict.

Looks like MSNBC has some integrity. Don't recall Glen Beck getting suspended when he said Obama hates white people.

Don't really fault Halprin. He asked if the delay was on and if he could do it. Scarborough said yes

BTW - I bet Kanye West will get a good laugh from this

none the less pretty funny

I don't recall Erin Burnett being suspended when she called Bush a chimp either not that it matters as I learned by age 6 that justifying my bad actions by pointing to others bad actions was not a valid justification for anything.

lol @ those comparing MSNBC's and Fox's "integrity" or in general based on fines/suspensions for things that were slipped on air.

Meh, I dunno. If someone is acting like I dick, I think they should be called a dick. I'm not saying Obama was acting like a dick because I haven't seen the news conference Halperin was referring to, but he's certainly entitled to his opinion.

At the rate they are going they won't have anyone left.

Why is it that every time someone says something stupid and gets suspended its from MSNBC?

No idea, but I sure am glad I turned down a job offer with MSNBC when they were just forming. It was a close one at the time! 😱

The word "dick" is the only thing that matters here, it's considered profane by our puritanical brothers. Had it been putz or even maybe something like douche then he would have gotten a pass.

As FNC regularly demonstrates - there really isn't a red line on how far you can go to insult or impung the reputation of a political opponent. You just can't use profanity.

Because Fox doesn't punish people for worse behavior.

Keith Oldermann heard three Democratic congressman were spending a lot because of assassination threats in AZ, it pissed him off and he sent them donations.

He was suspended.

Soon after one of the three was Rep. Gifford who was nearly assassinated.

Meanwhile, Rupert Murdoch made a bunch of publicly disclosed small donations (but larger than Olbermann) to Congressional campaigns - more to Democrats than Republicans.

Secretly, he donated far more,a million dollars, to a Republican-only fund - and someone leaked it.

He was not 'punished'.

Schulz was a lot more defensible on his offense too - he used the word slut but clearly meant it in a political sense.

Why is it more states may have punished people for racism earlier in the 20th century outside the south than in the south? Couldn't be because of lack of enforcement?

On this issue, I think there's a bit of a culture clash - there is one culture that says saying the President is a 'bit of a dick' is inappropriately disrespectful - much less a pretty low standard for speech on the network. Imagine a network anchor saying it in a newscast. But on the other hand, it could be argued it's within their rights - that they don't buy into the classic standards for how to talk about the President. It sure wouldn't have happened in JFK's time, but times have changed (and maybe Presidents have become more dicky).

The comment actually fits how Obama behaved from some people's point of view; there are other ways to make the same point.

Craig, you are comparing an on-air commentator to the guy who owns the network??

Seriously?

Even more idiotic he is still beating the Giffords drum despite the fact that the nutcase that tried to take her out was exactly that: A nutcase not driven by the type of partisan zeal that makes people like Craig post endless walls of text spewing half truths.

If MSNBC staff are starting to call Obama for what he is, you now know with certainty that Obama is in trouble. That is if you had any doubt before...

I read that Geithner is jumping ship too. I'll give Timmy credit, I didn't think he was smart enough to know when to get out. Going down with the Obama ship could haunt you for a long, long time.

I read an opinion piece where the author made an argument why Obama will resign before the end of his term.

Ads like these will be all over the airwaves between now and election day. Mr. Obama's record speaks for itself and it's worse than another President who's tenure I had to endure, that being Jimmy Carter.

Yes, the guy at the top should be held to a *higher* ethical standard if anything - his violation was *far* worse as well. You want to compare on-air people at Fox too?

The only half truth here would be in the sentence, "Linflas should aim for improving his posts to be at least a half-truth". Take out the Giffords shooting - the point is the same.

What a lie... and you predictably lap it up like wine to spew everywhere as a statement of fact. Typical Craig.

His donations were not to 3 AZ congressmen. 2 were to Arizona congressmen, and 1 was to a KY Senate Dem reelection campaign. Was he also facing assassination threats?

Doubly pathetic that Olbermann tries to play on the Giffords incident to make it look like this wasn't 100% political. Equally pathetic that Craig eats it up without a second thought.

That is an awesome add! It's going to be nothing but that for a year. "Today's Obama misery index is -7.5, which is slightly worse than last month, again."

That is nuts, I could possibly see a slim chance that he would decide to not run for a second term. Slim is the operative word though as he is burning up a hell of a lot of JP5 running around the country in that 747 non-corporate jet fundraising for the upcoming campaign.
