I think the reason they wont turn him over is because they cant find him.

What is Taliban? their leader? 'president' persay?

And I just have to say, I feel for all the innocent in Afganistan. I hope the US at least takes time to try and avoid killing civillians.. Other then that, I fully support them in any actions they decide to take.

Taliban are the religious fundamentalists who ousted the democratically elected Afghan government in '96.

Czar,

I heard on MSNBC that the Taliban does indeed know of Bin Laden's exact location. But they will not reveal it or turn him over to the US because they say the Bin Laden is not capable of orchastrating such an act.

<< This is what needs to happen >>

ignorant fool :|

FrysInsider,
Still its not that surprising, we still dont know who is behind this so there is no "new" reason for Afghanistan to hand over bin laden. But if he is behind this I feel sorry for the people of Afghanistan and the world.

I thought 'the world' agreed to "stop using nuclear weapons".. I know nations still have them, and still test them.. China being one of these, but I understood it as, if one nation used them, there would be serious reprocussions from several other nations...

Where did you hear they were corrupt? Taliban overthrew the government because they felt it was too progressive - ie, allowing women to becomes doctors, etc. Now women are stoned to death if they show any bit of skin out of doors.

What if Taliban hands over Bin Laden and US captures him. What next? Is that it? To whom will US revenge then? Bin Laden alone? Killing only him doesnt feel like revenge against anyone...

Would they start hunting & slaughtering all Talibans after that? Or all Afganistan people?

What do you think?

i doubt the US will use nukes, becuz we have many other very powerful and destructive weapons. its those other guys...the psychos...those r the ones who'd probably get trigger happy with nukes after we kick their ass here and there.

You've got to remember, these are the same people who brought the mighty Soviets to their knees in the Afghan war?
These guys know their skills when it comes to war. So I wouldn't be surprised if the government is a bit
apprehensive on their next move.

But do you really think they're going to give him peacefully if US would say "We fscking slaughter every one of you after you hand him to us!!!".

There's going to be a at least a small scale war if US attacks in Afganistan to wipe out the Talibans.

Im assuming the apprehensive government your talking about is the US government.. I remember hearing a statistic sometime in the last year.. It went something like this, "The US Militaries budget is five times that of its five top military 'enemies' or 'competitors COMBINED." Afghanistan isnt even anywhere close to those top five..

I dont think the US military has too much to worry about..

What i mean by apprehensiveness on the part of the US gov is that they don't wanna be drawn into a prolonged encounter when their only after is one man. Why mess up with these fanatics (taliban) when you could just get to binladen straight? But I doubt if that would be easy considering they've been hunting this guy since the first bombing.

Funny you mentioned about the budget. Where's all that money going is anybody's guess. They couldn't even afford a decent intelligence agency to monitor these people. Budget, it's not the real measuring stick when it comes to determining who's gonna win.

Very true. And the fact that those people are so fanatic and ready to these suicide attacks makes them dangerous enemy.

After this how can you know what they're capable of doing?

The rebels around Kabul will more than persuade the Taliban. I can only imagine that helicopter gunships do not locate weapons caches on their own. The United States will continue to locate high value targets for the rebels. When the Taliban finds out that they are highly vulnerable, unlike Osama, they will need to do something to rid themselves of their burden. Perhaps they do not turn him over, but they need simply locate him for a reaction force to do their quick work.
