MSN woes?

I know nothing about MSN but a co-worker uses it and requested my help. For some reason he lacks the ability to connect to it. He had lost the ability to connect to the office network for internet access as well but I ran XP network setup wizard and now he can access the internet using a regular browser instead of MSN, which he preferred. When it would try to connect it would try multiple times and display an error message, unfortunately, I can't see this message because I tried to install the latest version of MSN to fix the problem but it didn't help. I know this is very vague, but do you all have any ideas?
 
It's an architecture firm, and we only have 7 people, I am the youngest = often times most computer savvy. But in this case, not so much.
