MSN Instant Messanger- which port do file transfers work under?

Anyone know? I'm messing around with the firewall on my router, trying to get it to where i can send files.

Thanks

That's why you should use BitWise, because file transfer work when they are supposed to, it helps when you have a working direct connect implementation. And the upcoming proxy server (ETA: weekend) will help this even more.

what router are you using? if it's a linksys, and you have SPI enabled under the Advanced tab, port forwarding is disabled.

at least for the wired versions (I personally use the 4-port BEFSR41). not sure about their wi-fi products. might be different.

hmm. check this page out... was looking around d-links website.. Link that talks about msn messenger with your router.

sounds like you might have to put the computer in dmz.. hmm. have you updated to the latest firmware?

id also give DslReports.com (they are not DSL specific, and cater to all broadband). they have a Dslreports.com D-link forum worth trying out.. good luck.

I would only use DMZ mode as a last resort, because you lose all your protection from having the router, but if that's the only way that you can get it to work then I guess you're kinda stuck. :(
