MSN hijacks home page in Firefox and IE7

I just reformatted my wife's Thinkpad and am having a problem. For some reason after (numerous times) of setting the home page in both Firefox 2.0.0.6 (newest version) and in IE7, when she reboots the computer the home page reverts to MSN. Firefox is the default browser. Can someone tell me how to override this?
