I went to sign into MSN and i found an extra 20 or so contacts on there from people i don't even know. It happened on my laptop AND my desktop. My friend was using my desktop and he's signed in under his name, and has the same problem. Did our accounts get hacked? Was there a bug or something going on? I've recently done updates from microsoft, didn't have issues until then.

Thanks!

i would advise using trillian ( http://www.trillian.cc ) its the best instant messaging program ever....it works for every service (aim, icq, msn, yahoo, irc) it also includes "rendevous" which allows you to chat over a lan without a messaging server...without a doubt none of these problems would occur with trillian.

i do use trillian normally. actually i use it 99.9 percent of the time.
BUT, if i do choose to use MSN(which i did today), what's up with the added contacts?

If i wanted to know what a better IM solutino was, i would've asked. Thanks anyways.

NE1 Else?

Nope. None in trillian. I was talking to someone from mexico for a few minutes and we had no clue how they got added to my msn. Maybe about 5 other people I know had the same problem. Is it possible something got screwed up in an MSN database or something? You know, like emails got mixed up somewhere?

Do you use Outlook? Do you have Instant Messaging enabled within Outlook?

if the names added to those other ppl's contact list are the same as yours then my guess would be a DB error or hack, do scans with ad-aware and any other security software, remove everything they bring up
