Hello,

So yesterday i massively upgraded my pc with the following components:

MSI Z87-G45
Intel Core i5-4670K
GeForce GTX 780 3GB (Classified)

and kept my old Ram,Hd's PSU. and i am using windows 8.1

The main problems i am having are as follows:

1. I am unable to get the usb ports to recognize most things i plug in. This included a USB flash drive and a wireless network stick.

2. I am unable to install any Lan items from the mobo factory disc. The option to install the LAN drivers are greyed out on the disc menu, and when i search for them they will not install. Now i've found them online and downloaded them to a Usb Drive, but i can't use that because the USB drive won't be recognized by windows.

Any help on these issues would be so greatly appreciated, i am getting terribly frustrated and don't know what to do.

I have checked the Bios and it appears to be current, i have also reset the Mobo battery at the request of MSI.

first off, go to https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=174229.0 and get the standalone drivers for your killer NIC, which is giving everyone a headache.

burn them to a CD and you should at least be able to get a working LAN.

for everything else, in these cases i try to fix things with a compelte rebuild, meaning a format, unplugging everything from the mobo, cleaning everything and doing a new full build. problems tend to magically disappear. (who knows, maybe a cable plugged in the wrong way.)

otherwise, time for RMA. :(

Thanks! i'm burning the drivers to a CD as we speak for the Lan, I'll let you know how that goes.

The weird thing is, those usb ports definitely get power. I tried using my Razer Blackwidow in one of those ports, and it lit up until it got to windows then it turned off.

Very strange.
