MSI z87-g41. Stupid limitations?

I got this thing 3 weeks ago and I'm starting to get mad. First off it wouldn't go over 1.3v. I understand this to a point and I couldn't have cooled it much farther anyway. However, today I was trying to get it to boot at 4.9Ghz for fun (And maaayyyybe to get to a 6.0Ghz boot so I could say I had) and it just will not. It will not apply a multiplier that high. Defaults back to 38x.
Is this normal for this board or am I doing something wrong. If this is standard operation I might complain to MSI. I know it's unofficial anyways, but it's not right (IMO) to limit an overclocking part to below a multi of 49.
