Well, was using bios 3.0 without any issues including running DDR3-1600 on all auto settings except manually setting 1.65 vdimm for the memory.

Just updated to 3.8 bios and now even with these settings, cold boot locks, and require a cmos reset, and the only way I can get it to post is to manually set QPI voltage to at least 1.3v. However, even with manually adjusting QPI (1.3) and VDimm (1.65), the system is not stable using Prime95 blend testing (reboots). Memtest passes (2 full passes).

The cpu is running default settings, and not overclocking anything except memory, which is spec'd at DDR3-1600 @ 1.65 vdimm. Timings of memory were setup using auto and manual settings, even loosening timings did not help.

Any other board owners run into this issue? Should I revert back to the older bios?

Play with the new bios but if your not successful revert back for the time being since it ran without issue on the older bios. I personally always lag behind on the bios anyway..I don't like beta testing those.

Have you tried clocking memory to 1333MHz?

I've personally had bad luck with MSI X58 boards and memory running 1600MHz, with various X58 Platinum, X58 Eclipse, X58M. Various = more than one. Also, as you've found out, some BIOS versions were more memory stable than others. Really annoying especially in the early X58 days - felt like I was beta testing for MSI.

Thanks everyone. Yes, I am currently running at 1333 memory speeds without issue. Guess I can wait until the next bio comes out or revert back to 3.0.
