Hopefully someone has had this same problem. I just setup a MSIx58M matx board with a 920. I am able to get into windows and have even updated to 3.1 bios but still cant use a usb keyboard to get into the bios. I pulled a legacy board out of a box long put away and it still wont recognise it. Windows recognises the g15 the dinovo edge and the microsoft natural I have lying around the workshop. Funny thing is the post screen says the keyboards are connected and recognised. The input is not.

Resetting the cmos has me stuck in the post screen since it is asking for f1 to enter bios or f2 to load defaults...

I may go out and buy another ps2 keyboard since the one I used may be dead since it hasnt been used since the 90s.......

I have tried to google this to no avail....

Thanks in advance.

its 2009 and msi still expects you to have a ps2 keyboard.....

First build in 4 years that didnt recognise a usb keyboard at bios screen....

Tried 2 ps2 keyboards that I had in mothballs but they are not recognised either. Venturing out to buy a ps2 adapter. Man this pisses me off...

tried usb to ps2 adapter no joy...Everything works fine otherwise, I cant see why this doesnt work? Anyone ever experience something like this?

Something may be wrong with the board, nothing seems to be recognised by the two ps2 ports. Odd thing is USB works fine in windows just not in bios load. Others with the exact same board have used usb keys without issue.

I may tear it down and return it to frys..... I wanted to OC this thing soooooo bad ; ;

Edit: Ps2 ports are dead, this has to be indicative of something else. The board is on my bench so it cant be any kind of ground or a standoff shorting. The only way I was going to own x58 was on the cheap and this $329 board and 920 combo was too good to be true....guess it was.

Boxed it up and will be switching it out at frys. At least B&M allows me instant gratification.

It is an incompatibility problem that I've noticed in the past with MSI boards and certain USB keyboards. We had a couple of socket AM2 MSI boards that didn't like the Razer Tarantula USB keyboards that we had hooked up to them. Same symptoms where it works fine in Windows but can't get into BIOS. Same boards worked fine with a Logitech G15.

BTW I have an MSI X58M (with a 920) and I can get into BIOS just fine using a Dell multimedia keyboard, a Das Keyboard as well as some generic "mini" keyboard I bought from Geeks. All are USB.

You may just have to try some more keyboards, or your board is defective. Unfortunately I don't have any of the keyboards you tried (G15/diNovo Edge/MS Natural) handy to try on mine.
