MSI Video Card problem

I recently purchased an msi nx6600 vtd256 agp card. (Yeah, I know it's outdated lol) Anyway, after install, I only get a "no signal" message on the monitor screen. When I put my old 6200 back in everything is fine. The card has a floppy type power connector yet the MSI manual nor any other tech document mentions connecting power during install. In fact when connected to power the computer won't even turn on. I had the same problem with an MSI Radeon x1550 pci-e card. Sounds like some peculiarity having to do with MSI cards. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
