TPU got a nice 1245MHz overclock on their card, but it looks like its just a reference card with the TFIII cooler on it according to VR-zone. Thought these models would be a custom board design.

This is the "Twin Frozr" model. A "Cyclone", if they do one, should have a custom PCB with at least beefed up VRM's. You'll likely have to buy a 7970 to get a "Lightning" with state of the art O/C'ing features.

Yea, only the top cards get "Lightning", 6970/580/480/5870.

Those Cyclone and Hawk models were only for 560/550/6870/6850 as far as last generation is concerned.

Figured at least power circuitry on these cards would be a custom solution, I believe it is on the TFIII 6950's, though I'm not sure and I own one lol

That's a very cool card, who knows how cherry picked it is though. 1.2v and still only 61 degrees.

My card has the same temps, even if I overvolt to 1.3 and 1GHz clock it maxes out around 70. Its a pretty good cooler.

Pretty beastly overclocker, and the temps are great. I also like how it actually has one more power phase than a reference 7970 :p. However, I would have liked to seen bigger/quieter fans used and something more beefy on the VRM's. I'd be interested to see VRM temps when the voltage is cranked.

Techpowerup really needs to ditch their benchmarking of Call of Duty 4,no one is buying this gpu to play COD4,why not replace that benchmark with one like MW3 or something.

Looks like a interesting card, between the 7970 and the 7950,i have a hard time figuring out which is gonna replace my gtx560.

The 7950 has near gtx580 performance at stock with nearly the same power consumption as my gtx560 but the 7970 is so boss as well with slightly lower then gtx570 power consumption while just pwning it and its big brother.

I really wish they would state what graphics settings they use. Instead of just stating resolution and AA setting. That and test at 1080P, the resolution 90% of us use.

Oh, that and get a faster CPU to test with. You can tell what games are CPU bound as they get basically the same FPS at all resolutions (ie: Skyrim and Starcraft)
