I've heard of that akihabara place, it sounds like an excellent place to shop? I wonder, what would be the closest thing in the US like this?
Years ago, I would say that we used to have temporary akihabaras in the form of those weekend computer shows/fairs where vendors would sell things inexpensively. But nowdays, there just doesn't seem to be this kind of thing anymore in the US? Maybe walking into a Fry's electronics is the closest thing, followed by the slightly diminished experience of walking into a Microcenter?
I just want to get that "oh wow" feeling I used to have when going to a computer fair and buying all the components for a new system. Now I have to sit in front of my computer and click on the internet sites like Newegg etc., it's just not the same. Where is the US version of akihabara, why can't we get one?
