MSI RS482M4-ILD onboard sound performance?

Hi,

Just wondering about the onboard audio chipset for the MSI MSI RS482M4-ILD. I am upgrading a family members' PC from an older socket 462 ABIT KT7 (non raid), which had a SoundBlaster Live 5.1 PCI sound card in it.

Will the Realtek ALC880 outperform the SoundBlaster Live 5.1 card? Looking to upgrade them to Windows 7 over XP if that makes a difference 🙂

That onboard audio controller is new enough I wouldn't bother with the SB Live 5.1 PCI card, even if they game.
