MSI R9 270x or 280 (gaming)

Hi guys

I'm in the market for a new video card and as of right now MSI R9 270X and 280 are being sold at the same price (both gaming). I have 8gb of RAM and older generation of i7-920.

I don't know which one to choose. Can somebody shed some light? I am currently not playing video games on 1080p but I would like to keep that options open if possible. Last time I upgraded my parts were 5 years ago (not a frequent update-r)

Can you afford an R9 280X? Equal to te GTX770 and is cheaper.

Get the 280. This is a no-brainer; the 280 is like a 7950. The 270X is a souped-up 7870. It's just a no-brainer, get the R9 280 since it's the same price.
