Doesn't look like a terrible deal, but it seems to be OOS as are most of the other items I've looked for on ZZF lately.

Crazy heatsink, but I wonder how it is in practice... Plus, it will probably push into another card which is in the next slot or take up that whole space completely...

MSI Cyclone for $159 at zzf was too amazing to pass up. I ordered 2 on Sunday and they just arrived. There are two really good reviews of the msi if you google it. The odd cooler seems to really work.

Too bad they are out of stock..would probably make a good upgrade from my 260GTX 192

That's the same heatsink they started using on their 4870's just before the 4890's came out. Only thing that would concern me is the VRM cooling, which on those types of units is pretty much passive and non-existent.

Various cards with radial heatsinks have come out before. You just can't beat front-to-back blower heatsinks though. The radials have more cooling power but they recirculate too much hot air.

well seeing how hot VRM can get and how it holds the card back in overclocking, I would be happier with a reference cooler.

My reference launch 4890 runs much cooler than the XFX 4890 OC I bought a few months ago. The xfx card barely does another 50 on mem and 100 on core.
I do not think this an abberation because 3 of my friends bought them when new egg had em crazy cheap a while ago.
