msi problem

I downloaded Active Virus Shield from AOL

it is a msi file and I cannot install it for some reason.

Windows Installer is giving me an error message saying..

This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.

Now, I searched around Google for while.. but I haven't found a solution that works for me.
and most of the solutions are very confusing.

Can anyone help?

Clear your internet cache and download the file again, it sounds like you only got a partial file downloaded.

Not sure what a fresh install has to do with this unless the msi was on a cd (if I misread you). If it was a download I bet you got something like 99% of the file (e.g. most of it) but not 100% At least, thats what it sounded like..

Btw, I moved this to Windows/PC Software as I thought it would have a wider audience here.
