msi pro2a usb header compatibility

i have an unused usb port (2 ports on small card that fits into pci slot) and cable that came with my asus cuv4x. i was wondering if this will work fine with my msi pro2a mobo and its extra usb header. i was wondering if the extra usb ports that come with other mobos should be compatible with other ones as well.
 
I was also wondering this. I had an A7V that came with the extra usb ports. Now I have a Pro 2-A, the USB headers look the same except the header on the Pro 2-A uses one extra pin that is blocked off on the A7V usb connector. Anyone know if it would work if I just broke the extra pin off?
