Hello all...

I just recently acquired this board with the idea of using the primary and secondary ide connectors for my 4 ide devices, and using one of the RAIDs for my hard drive (as MSI's RAID connectors do not support ordinary ide devices...only hdd's).

I've told the BIOS to boot from the hard drive connected to the RAID, but a system error occurs...stating that the operating system will not start (even after safe mode, last working start up..etc etc)

Will I have to back-up my hdd and do a fresh install of Win XP Pro? Is there a way to salvage my current hdd with my RAID connection on this new board?

(I have used this current hdd on a regular MSI PRO2. I basically did a swap of all components over to this upgraded board).

Thanks everyone for passing along the knowledge.

You already have a operating system in the HDD you are trying to boot from??
If so.. it will only work in 98, 98se, Me. That is all I know of that if you want more info go to this post by clickin Here
I unsuccessfully tried to load Win2K and Win XP from an old machine's HDD to a new one just to test it.. and NOPE it would not start. I used 98 without a hitch. So if you got a spare HDD use that one.

Good observation... since RAID is used for writing onto HDD to save data if something were to happen, I mean cant write on a HDD and CDROM RAID 0+1 configuration..hehe
