Hi guys,

I picked up two MSI P55-CD53s for identical builds (i7 860 /w 6 gigs of Crucial DDR).

When I got the mainboard installed I turned it on, the CPU Phase 1 light flickered on then off.

I turned it off, installed the CPU, Hard drive, DVD burner, RAM and all of the other bits and pieces.

Now when I turn it on the base clock control buttons light up, as well as the power button (internal one) and the CPU Phase 1 light come on.

It then turns off, and restarts and does it again in a loop until I turn off the power at the power supply.

Both builds are identical and do exactly the same thing, I pulled all the hardware including the CPU and it is still doing it. It boggles my mind as far as what I did wrong.

I have pulled the hardware, swapped PSUs (from a third machine as well).. and nothing has changed.

Any ideas?

Check the ram slots, make sure they are in DIMM 1 & 3, my MSI P55 board won't even post if I only have 2 modules in 2 & 4.

First try running the board with 4 gigs of ram. I am pretty sure MSI P55-CD53 requires you to install them in the 2nd and 4th slot, not 1st and 3rd.

Make sure the ram is running at 1.65V to start.

Also, load Optimal Defaults in the BIOS.

Disable all power saving technologies (EIST, C3-C7 states, etc.). Force 1.300V CPU vcore for now. Disable Turbo Mode. Make sure to set CPU/Ram ratio that doesn't exceed your RAM speed. Enable Profile1 XMP for memory if applicable to your memory.

See if any of these work.
