I just noticed that yesterday on my 2nd computer that i rarely use i only had 4gb of ram while the machine has 8gb installed.

The memory count on POST shows 4096. Going into the bios in the cell menu shows that both dimm 1 and 3 are populated with RAM but the bios system information also only shows 4096. I've booted the system with each stick of ram by itself and it boots fine with either stick. I've swapped the ram in the 3 slot to the 1 slot and it still boots with 4096. I've tried setting the ram speed manually to 1066 and 833 and still no luck.

Any suggestions how to get this motherboard to see the full 8gb of ram? The ram is gskill 12800.

Try the 2 and 4 slots?

Try 1 and 2 and then 3 and 4.

One slot must be bad?

Dual channel does perform better, but it's pretty much unnoticeable except in benchmarking. So, don't worry about losing dual channel mode.

I forgot to mention that i did try 1&2 and still got 4096. Haven't tried 3&4 yet due to how close 4 is to my CPU heatsink.

I've seen ALOT of posts on the net regarding this motherboard with the same problem but the solutions haven't been reliable.

So looking at this further what's actually happening is the bios is detecting both sticks but it's detecting each stick at 2048MB instead of each stick at 4096mb.

And yes, the sticker on both ram sticks says 4GB and i know it was running in my main computer awhile back at 4096 so i know hte ram is actually 4096 each.
