Hi,
I'm in the process of trying to overclock my E6300.
I've got the jumpers set to a 333 FSB on the motherboard.
In the bio setting I bumped it up to 400 FSB, however according to CPU-Z, it's fluctuating between 412 & 420 Mhz.
Is this normal?

Thanks.

Not really. Do you have power-saving features enabled in the BIOS? (like SpeedStep, C1E Halt, TM1/TM2, etc.) I've seen one such behavior from my DFI P965-S when it wakes up from sleep. It sometimes goes to 392 FSB (from 400 FSB) when it wakes up. Try disabling power related settings in both BIOS and in the OS.

Spread spectrum varies the fsb, though it shouldn't vary that much. Usually +/- 1mhz or so.

I have the same board using a E6400 running at 375 mhz FSB and CPUZ version 1.44.1 shows the FSB steady at 375 mhz. I do have EIST enabled and Spread spectrum disabled. Why did you set the jumpers to 333 mhz if using the bios to overclock? See if you have the same issue with the jumpers at 200 mhz default.

The jumpers are just for the bootstrap. IIRC, for anything over 333fsb, the bootstrap should be set to 333 anyway.

The review I read on the board stated for the best overclock, set the jumpers @ 333fsb.

Well, I think I figured out what the problem was...I had the D.O.T. control enabled in the bios. I disabled it & now it's (according to CPU-z) accurate.
Now if I can get those memory timings figured out.
