Ok, I've tried to read all I can before asking for help but I'm at a loss...

All I'm trying to accomplish is the 3.6 "easy" overclock.

In Bios, I Disabled DOT, Intel EIST and Spread Spectrum

Set my Dram to Disabled and set my memory timings to 4-4-4-12 (OCZ high performance DDR2-800mhz kit).

Set the FSB/Mem Ratio at 1:1 for a clock of 800

Set the PCIE frequency to 100mhz (default)

Set CPU FSB to 400mhz

Left all other settings and Vcore at default settings

Reboot the PC and recieve my overclock failed message every time!!!

I also tried using the Duel Core Center software and it crashed it as well even with just the mild +7% settings?

Am I missing something??? I'm at my wits end! Thanks for any and all help...

Doesn't sound like you've read too much, if thats all you can read. or stand to read. set that mem at 5 5 5 15 2.1volt. 1:1 400fsb, vcore at 1.3, and retry your easy oc.

Thank you for your help... I admit to being a rookie, however I did try to read and most things I read said you could keep the vcore down at 1.25 and not mess with the memory voltage.

I set this up as you suggested and works great. Should I be worried about the cpu voltage? Thanks again for your help...

open cpu-z and read the Vcore voltage. It will be one number when running orthos, and a different number when sitting idle:

examples: during orthos 1.23v, during idle 1.255v

Ok, I'm missing it... the only reading I see is core VID at 1.063 and that stays static... where is the vcore reading in cpu-z?

thats correct, you're looking for core VID. So apparently you're running at 3.6ghz at 1.063 volts which under load is probably 1.05Vcore at 3600mhz. HAHA nice chip!

Seems as though you didn't properly set the vcore to 1.3 via bios, or that your overclock didnt hold during reboot, or that you're reading VID from coretemp or something.

Yep, very strange...

Went back into Bios and the settings are all still good...

CPU Voltage 1.3000v
Mem Voltage 2.10

PC health monitor in Bios shows CPU Core at 1.272 at idol

Not sure what CPU-Z is telling me?

Again, thanks for your time and help on this!

Check your SB I/O power and NB voltage settings, Mine have a tendency to default to random values on my Neo2-FR. Also, be sure you have GOOD memory and a PSU. I just looked again, I see you have OCZ ram. I had a horrible time getting OCZ ram to run default settings let alone OC'ed. I switched to Buffalo Firestix and it solved all my issues. Maybe see here: http://www.ocztechnologyforum....showthread.php?t=33457 I got tired of fiddling with the settings to get the system stable at a meager 400fsb and tried my brothers Crucial Ballistix and bam, easy OC right to 500fsb. I bought some Buffalo Firestix and never looked back.

SB I/O is at 1.5
NB at 1.250

Must be default as I didn't mess with these...

Ran coretemp and it shows .9500 on VID, I'm confused :)

VID = intel specified voltage identification. It stays the same and is unique for each chip.

Vcore = actual voltage running into the cpu's cores. this is the 1.063 that you read from cpu-z's main window.

So am I good to go Jared? The 1.063 stays the same in cpuz. I'm assuming the 1.272 in the bios is ok. Seems very stable...

1.063 vcore or 1.272 vcore... either way that's safe. Ask some other folks, but i'm sure we'd be in agreement.
