My uncle is looking to upgrade his old Pentium4 based system to this one. He will be overclocking on the stock heatsink. How much can he hope to overclock this system. Also what power supply do you suggest? Can he use the one on his Pentium 4 system (250 watts)? You may suggest a better RAM or Mobo if u see any problems. He has already bought the CPU.

If he wants to overclock in that price range I would suggest the Abit IP35-E, runs about $90 and from what I've read overclocks extremely well. also, if overclocking I would make sure thats DDR2-800 so it can run in synch at 400 fsb. Finally the 2160's are running about the same price at the 2140 at most places right now since the 2140 is on it's way out so I'd take advantage of the extra multiplier, since it's essentially free and all.

Hey quick reply! The Abit IP35-E is unavailable in Delhi, India (thats where I live). The cheapest mobo I found which supports overclocking was this and this one was is available for $135 (I hate customs and excise duties).

I'll see if he can exchange the E2140 for an E2160 CPU from the shop. He wants to upgrade for $250, but try keeping it down to $180 because when he buys it here it will be around $250.

I was looking for the ASUSP5K-VM before but it was not in stock and one dealer asked $225 for ordering it!

wow, i guess there's one upside to capitolism. I really should look into what it would take to export computer parts internationally, it doesn't seem like it would be that hard as i've sent a lot of electronics internationally but, not as a retailer. It just seems to me that an american business operating outside the united states should be able to export a lot of electronics that certain parts of, if not most of, the rest of the world is not able to get.
